Siegen speaks

‘Siegen spricht’ (Siegen speaks) is a project run by the KUNA e. V. association with the aim of highlighting the linguistic diversity of the city of Siegen.
When linguistic diversity is made visible, it creates awareness of the diversity of human lifestyles. This promotes intercultural dialogue and understanding between different groups. People learn that every language is unique and has its own value, which can break down prejudices and linguistic discrimination. The project contributes to strengthening tolerance, respect and inclusion in multicultural societies.
In a globalised world, multilingualism is becoming increasingly important. The project promotes the appreciation of multiple languages and strengthens social integration and understanding between different population groups in Siegen. People who speak a non-dominant language often experience disadvantages in education, at work or in social life. ‘Siegen spricht’ raises public awareness of linguistic diversity and helps to counteract these inequalities.
Making linguistic diversity visible helps to give future generations the opportunity to experience a rich and diverse cultural landscape. By protecting and promoting languages, we create a world in which different forms of expression can continue to exist and flourish. Learning and understanding multiple languages not only promotes cultural competence, but also awareness of the global responsibility to preserve diversity.
