Project duration: October-December 2024

Empowerment for girls with disabilities in Bishkek.
The non-profit association ‘Our Voice’ in Bishkek works in the field of social work and runs a social facility with accommodation (Sozialny dom). There, girls and young women are prepared for adult life after leaving the children’s home. The non-profit association ‘Our Voice’ in Bishkek worked in the field of social work and maintained a social facility with accommodation (Sozialny dom). There, girls and young women were prepared for adult life after leaving the children’s home.
The facility is financed exclusively by donations, and the income is often only sufficient to maintain the living quarters. With our project, we wanted to give the young women the opportunity to process their experiences with the help of art methods and under the guidance of a professional workshop leader.
KUNA e.V. had project experience with women and methods that were used in the Artwomculture project. Information about the project was available on our website. The association wanted to share its experience in this area and encourage young women in Bishkek to try new things independently and become active. This enabled the women not only to process their experiences in their work, but also to discover their own potential and create new perspectives for themselves. This was the second face-to-face meeting. The partners developed a long-term strategy for the project work. The meeting was also about getting to know each other personally and exploring the situation on the ground in Tashkent. The plan was to talk to the target group of the association’s projects in order to find out their needs and wishes for future project work. In addition, visits to other associations were planned in order to expand opportunities for cooperation. Questions about the interfaces between the organisations in the areas of ‘women’s education’ and ‘culture and sustainability’ were answered.
The project was funded by the West-East Encounters Foundation in Berlin.
