About us
Intercultural Project work in sustainability is crucial to solving global environmental problems such as climate change. Collaboration between people from different cultures brings new perspectives and innovative solutions that are ecologically and socially responsible. A deep understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity is important to us. By taking local knowledge and cultural characteristics into account, our association and partners from all over the world are able to collaborate on a wide range of projects. This work not only strengthens the achievement of SDG goals, but also promotes intercultural understanding and global cooperation.
Our association has set itself the goal of connecting organisations worldwide. Within the framework of cooperation between civil society actors, we want to develop joint solutions to social and environmental problems. Our tools for this are local cooperation projects, dialogues and forums, and network meetings. Another particularly important part of our work is adult education, which we offer in the form of workshops, excursions and lectures.
Our history
The idea to start an association for culture and sustainability came from a strong desire to integrate social and cultural diversity as key parts of a sustainable future. In 2018, Natalia Neumann, who has a master’s degree in cultural management, started an initiative in Siegen, South Westphalia, to promote intercultural understanding and exchange about sustainable development in different cultures. The initiative promoted sustainable practices in different cultures and value systems. Through participation in events, lectures and discussion groups, and in particular through the Artwomculture project, the initiative’s work became more diverse and international. Inspired by the conviction that a broad range of cultural perspectives is necessary to develop effective sustainable solutions, committed people from different backgrounds and communities came together. This gave rise to the desire to found a non-profit association that would launch its own projects and network with other associations.
The association strives to use creative cultural approaches to create a platform where people from different backgrounds can work together to promote sustainable practices and thus have a positive impact on society and the environment. The association is based in Siegen and connects our region with many regions around the world through numerous international activities. Our projects are also carried out in collaboration with other associations and organisations in the Siegerland region.
